A Beauty Contest
A performance where three beauty queens and a host get down and dirty with cultural prejudice, gender conundrums, and mediatised ideals of beauty, power, scandal, and filth. Marta Navaridas and Dani Brown of the international performance collective FINGERSIX shamelessly adopt social rites and standardised imagery within a culture of representation only to dismantle them throughout the course of the show.
“The work is a humour based stage reflection about cultural expectations, gender representation, alter egos, sex, and the question which personal criteria determine the concept of beauty beyond established norms.”
Diario Vasco
“…daring, complex-free, nutty, full of insinuations, intentions and at times even the desire to be transcendent
…it makes you think, smile, feel good and want to hang out with them…and that is quite something”
R. Herrero, Diario Vasco
